We are your guides through the treacherous terrain of music video
promotion, and are here to make it as easy as possible for you to
achieve maximum impact and exposure for your video. We have extensive
experience, with hundreds of success stories of championing the poor,
huddled independent music masses yearning to be seen and heard. We are
fearless when it comes to promoting cliche-defying artists outside the
mainstream, while always remaining highly selective in the projects we
promote. Our constant goal is to supply our programmers with the videos
their viewers really want to see.
We've built the most impressive client roster in the industry,
promoting videos by such epic talents as Morrissey (currently), Johnny
Cash, Elvis Costello, and Motley Crue, as well being on the ground
floor with artists like Death Cab For Cutie, Bloc Party, of Montreal,
The Kooks, Metric and others on their way to stardom. We haven't
forgotten our roots though, and new or independent artists get the same
combination of unmatched expertise, unique experience and untrammeled
enthusiasm as the superstars. CyberPlay has established and maintained
a solid, ever-growing network of contacts throughout the music video
programming world and is continually updating the most comprehensive
database anywhere of music video outlets which cuts across all
stylistic and geographic borders.
We are a full service music video promotion company with years of
experience. We work extensively with major labels (Universal, Columbia,
Atlantic) and labels with major distribution (Astralwerks, Mute, CBS),
but we also specialize in helping smaller labels like Merge, Sub Pop,
Polyvinyl, Chocolate Industries, and Side One Dummy get the word out
about their artists and videos. We even help many independent artists
with no label affiliation at all. CyberPlay Video Promo will promote
your artist's music video to select national and regional video shows,
retail video pools (outlets that provide in-store music video
programming to retailers), video-on-demand providers, nightclubs and
various high profile Internet outlets. These online outlets have
proliferated and grown rapidly just in the last year or so, to the
point where an Internet presence is more important than ever for a
successful music video campaign.
Since CyberPlay Video Promo has been on the music video playing field
for so long, we know the programmers personally and we have enough
experience to steer clear of the pitfalls. What sort of pitfalls are
these? Professional duplication of your video in the right numbers and
specific tape formats (Beta SP, Mini DV, DVCam, etc.) required for
various outlets, each with a complete and accurate slate, closed
captioning, proper completion of required submission forms, and many
others. Another potential pitfall is a programmer receiving a video
with little or no further information. CyberPlay super-sizes every
video campaign with an originally written video promotion one sheet
that accompanies each video submission. This is where we, as your
promoter, argue the case of why your video is worthy of the
programmer's attention. As your "lawyer" walking into the courtroom
music video opinion, we've done our research and are prepared to
present your case eloquently and zealously, without resorting to empty
hype or false accolades.
We don't neglect the personal touch, either. We maintain very friendly
relations with all the important point people at the national outlets
(MTV, VH1, Fuse etc.), but never take for granted the many video
programmers and programming opportunities in all the little corners of
the music video community. When we submit a video to MTV and Fuse, we
make sure to coordinate with you a plan of attack so that we are
hitting all of our collective contacts at once. We know that it is very
important to give the best presentation possible to these networks,
which is why we feel it very important to collaborate with you on the
timing and submission strategy. Over the years we have been promoting
music videos, we have been able to secure programming on both the
MTV/Viacom Networks and Fuse for countless videos.
CyberPlay Clips are also offered up to our video programmers all over
the country to include in their own programming, and are usually
programmed together with the artist's most recent video, giving you
double, supersized exposure! CyberPlay Clips are the kind of original
programming our video programmers salivate over, and our CyberPlay
Clips have proven to increase the sustained airplay for the videos we
promote quite dramatically.
Our list of video shows and programming outlets is the most
comprehensive and up to date list in the industry (at last count we
have over 140 outlets on our servicing list). If the servicing list
needs to be cut down, CyberPlay Video Promo will work very hard to
create a servicing list within your budget, selecting just those
outlets that have the most likelihood of sharing your musical and
visual aesthetic.
Here at CyberPlay we pride ourselves in spending a lot of time getting
to know your band or artist's music prior to the campaign and are
always equipped with all the information necessary to get programmers
excited about your artist and video. Our goal is to keep the videos
included in the individual outlet's programming for as long as
possible. Our promotional strategies most often include contest
giveaways and sending out promotional items like autographed CDs,
T-shirts and stickers. We have also found that video IDs by the artists
("Hi, I'm YOUR NAME HERE and you're watching New York Noise") are very
helpful to securing sustained airplay.
We will also coordinate, if you are amenable to it, ticket giveaways
and set up in-person video interviews with programmers all across the
country when you go on tour. These interviews usually take place at the
venue the artist is playing, so the programmer very often gets to see
the band perform live as well. The CyberPlay Video Promo staff will
also make every attempt to see the band when performing in the NYC/NJ
or Philadelphia areas and take photos with them and invited
programmers. Programmers are influential tastemakers and opinion
leaders in their markets, and a favorable impression made on them can
enhance a video's exposure and artist's staying power in that market.
All we would need to get started is the master copy of the video (on
digibeta or beta sp, un-chyroned), some information for our labels,
copies of your CD, and any other promotional items that you think might
help the cause.
Out of a possible 150+ outlets we work with, a typical
video might be serviced to the following outlets at an
approximate cost of $4,500 for an eight week promotion. Keep in mind
this includes the cost of closed captioning, which is mandated on all
videos by the FCC. If you were to do this on your own, you would likely
spend close to $300.00. The fee also includes our reporting
data.
